The Virtual Center for Velo-Cardio-Facial Syndrome announces a research collaboration and two important studies that have important implications for the understanding a possible treatment of mental illness in velo-cardio-facial syndrome. This study will be conducted at the prestigious Columbia University Medical Center and the New York Psychiatric Institute in New York City. We are seeking research subjects for the study who have a confirmed diagnosis of VCFS (22q11 deletion syndrome, DiGeorge syndrome, etc.) and psychiatric/behavioral disorders. Both of these studies will require blood samples to analyze proline levels and to obtain white blood cells that will be converted to adult stem cells known as iPCs under the direction of our colleagues, Drs. Joseph Gogos and Sander Markx. If you would like to learn more about this study and its importance, or register to possibly provide a blood sample for the study, please click on the link below and provide all of the information requested. At this moment, the study is limited to residents of the United States. You will be contacted as soon as possible by a representative of our Center once we have your registration.
