Blythe Derby joins the staff at the Virtual Center for Velo-Cardio-Facial Syndrome (VCFS) bringing a unique blend of professional experience, caregiving insight, and advocacy-driven purpose. Blythe previously worked as an interior designer specializing in stone and tile work. Nine years into her career, she became the mother of a medically complex child and made the decision to step away from her profession to stay home full time and manage her daughter’s extensive medical needs.

Residing in central North Carolina with her husband, daughter, and pug, Blythe’s life and work are deeply shaped by disability advocacy, caregiving, and the belief that every human life holds inherent value. One of the most impactful moments in her daughter’s diagnostic journey was finding the right support networks and communities to lean on for guidance and encouragement.

After several years as a full-time caregiver, Blythe felt called to reengage her organizational and administrative strengths in a meaningful way. She is actively involved in advocacy efforts for rare disease and disabled children, including her work with Project CASK, where she helps amplify hope for families navigating complex medical journeys. Blythe is eager to support the VCFS community by providing administrative assistance and helping members feel connected, supported, and informed.
